Portraits are the most personal work done in the studio, and usually the most meaningful. Family members, children, people who are no longer here. There is no room for approximation.
That starts with the reference photo. A sharp, well-lit, high-resolution image makes the difference between a portrait that captures someone and one that only resembles them. If your only photo is old or low quality, bring it anyway — we will talk honestly about what is achievable before committing.
Placement and size are discussed carefully as well. Faces need room for the small tonal shifts that create likeness, so portraits are generally not recommended at very small sizes.
